Important: abroad, car rental companies do not allow the use of third-party credit or debit cards.
What is security deposit and how does it work?
When the car is picked up, the rental company will request a credit or debit card owned by the renter and with a limit available to block a specific amount. The amount varies depending on the category and rental period and is a guarantee for the rental company. The amount is not debited from your invoice, that is, it is not debited and is only held for the duration of the car rental period.
After returning the vehicle to the rental company in the same condition in which it was collected, the store will have up to 72 hours to request the release of the amount blocked on your card. After this request, unlock time varies depending on your credit card operator.
Important: for rentals abroad, it is necessary that the credit or debit card be enabled for international transactions. Rental companies do not accept prepaid credit cards.
What is the value of the security deposit?
From MXN$5,000. This amount will serve as collateral in the event of any unforeseen circumstances, guaranteeing funds available to cover additional costs. The security deposit will be released after returning the car.
How do the protections work?
Vehicle Damage Coverage: Coverage against vehicle damage and breakdown due to collisions or accidents.
Protection Against Third Parties: protection against material and personal damage caused to third parties.
Theft coverage: protection against theft of the rental car.
Are there items that are not covered by protection?
Yes. Rental companies generally do not offer coverage for items such as:
- Accessories, tires, wheels and suspensions damaged by holes or guides;
- Scratches or dents;
- Latches on the windshield;
- Damage caused by floods or any other natural phenomenon, loss or damage to the vehicle key or documentation.
These exclusions may vary by rental company. When picking up the vehicle, confirm all the details about the coverage offered by the contracted protections, as well as the elements that are not covered. “
Can I hire extra protection?

Types of protections: Third Party Damage Protection (TPL) Material Damage Protection Protection against Theft (CDW) Protection of Occupant Medical Expenses (PAI) Standard Protection Standard Protection Mandatory Protection
This protection covers civil liability for damages caused to third parties to their property or persons up to $4,000,000 (Four million pesos 00/100 M.N.) per event.
This protection covers material damage suffered by the rented vehicle as a result of collision or rollover, broken glass, natural phenomena, vandalism and unprovoked fire (CDW).
Covers Total Theft of the unit (TP) under the invariable application of a deductible of 20% of the commercial value of the rented vehicle.
In the event of contracting Deductible Protection, from the opening of the contract the deductible for material damage covered by the Material Damage Protection (CDW) will be reduced to 5%. In the case of Total Theft (TP), the deductible is not reduced and remains at 20% of the commercial value of the vehicle.
This protection does not cover the theft of auto parts or damage to the interior of the vehicle.

This protection covers medical expenses caused by bodily injuries suffered by the driver or any occupant of the rental vehicle as a result of a car accident while they are inside the vehicle and does not exceed the unit’s occupant capacity. The maximum limit of this protection is $400,000 pesos per event.
Locksmith service.- In case of loss, damage or forgetfulness of the key inside the unit, the duplicate will be taken or sent to a specialized provider to open the car. In case of loss or damage, the assistance service and the cost of repair or replacement of the key are covered.
This coverage is provided within a 40 km radius of the branch.
